Blogmas Day 6: Face Update #4 - Christmas Party

6 December 2013

At the beginning of this week, the event which kicks off my festive season took place: my work Christmas party. Because my team decided to go for dinner followed by drinks, I needed makeup which would last well past the soup course and in to post meal cocktails. Here are the products which I opted for.

I kept my base simple, going for an oldie but a goodie - Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua - a foundation which always manages to feel light, look natural and last all day. Concealer was easy, MAC Select Cover-Up, which worked particularly well on an angry red blemish at the top of my nose. To add a little colour to my cheeks I used my NARS One Night Stand palette (I know, shocker), skipping bronzer and using the darkest blush, Goulue on the apples of my cheeks before lightly applying Devotee to highlight down the centre of my nose and the tops of cheekbones.

Brows were fairly simple too - after a quick brush through, I used my Laura Mercier Brow Powder Duo which I set with the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. It was the eyes where I made the most effort. I started off with my NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base to hold everything in place, and then decided that the more layers I applied, the better. First up was the Make Up Forever Aqua Cream in shade 13, which is a gorgeous, creamy champagne coloured base. Because it's Christmas I decided to pack on  the glitter, using MAC Tan Pigment which in terms of colour is a pretty combination of rose gold and bronze. I finished up my eyeshadow by running MAC Mulch through the crease, lined my upper lash line with MAC Dip Down, and then finally added plenty of Chanel Inimitable Mascara to my lashes.

Last but not least, I used one of my new favourite lipsticks - Urban Decay Naked 2 (review here). I would've liked to have gone for a nice seasonal red, but I didn't want to run the risk of it smudging half way through my meal. Here's the finished look (apologies for the rubbish, wet hair photo):
