If there's one essential for me on New Years Eve, it's glitter. I've spent most December 31st's with my family as my mum's birthday is January 1st, but just in case I decide to break the habit of a life time and hit the dance floor, I've rounded up my top NYE picks.
My New Years Eve Beauty Picks
24 December 2013
Every year, I make ambitious plans to have a lengthy pampering session on Christmas Eve, and then real life gets in the way. This year I'll be keeping things simple in the hopes that I manage to fit in a bit of beauty time in between watching Christmas films and drinking a few too mugs of hot chocolate.

Another day, another Lush Christmas product to share with you all. Today is my final festive Lush offering, and only my second ever skin care product from the brand. Rudolph is a face mask which is designed to soothe and nourish the skin, which is perfect for this time of year. I love the name, and the cute red jelly nose! Get ready ladies and gents, because this is going to be a bit of a rave...

Last week, I professed that these shades were my top picks for Christmas day polish. However, after opening days three and twenty on my Boots advent calendar (thanks Mum), I'm back with a Mavala duo that has shaken up the Christmas beauty line up, and is currently on my nails. I'd never tried Mavala polishes before, so I was really happy to see both of these varnishes in my calendar. Colour wise, they're perfect. Nothing beats a red at Christmas time and I like glitter all year round.

The big day is almost upon us, and my wrapping is still a work in progress. I have been known to nip up back to my room on Christmas morning to finish off my wrapping, but this year I'm determined to be finished by 5pm on Christmas Eve. If you're still wrapping and have a spare half hour (or you're a crazy Christmas person like I am), here are a couple of easy peasy DIY wrapping ideas to try out.

Ahhh Christmas Eve. Possibly my favourite day of the year (it's a tie with my birthday), and this year Lush have slightly changed the bath bomb which attempts to match that day. Designed to relax and refresh you before the big night (or any big night, really), grab yourself one quick - there's just enough time.

If, like me, you're a fan of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle but struggle to justify the cost per daily wear ratio, I've found the product for you. I discovered this as a poor student, when my addiction to Chanel fragrance became difficult to support. Enter, Coco Mademoiselle Fresh Moisture Body Mist.

If there's ever a time for cookies, it's Christmas. These particular cookies are a winner in my house all year round (heads up, my little brother says they're great with milk), but with the big day now a week away they make a great treat for Santa or yourself. They make a lovely gift too - I decided to wrap mine up in some clear cellophane, tied with red and green ribbon to keep it festive. This recipe originally featured in Eat Me by Cookie Girl (I switched up the Smarties for Minstrels). Enjoy...

Now that I've sussed out what's going on in the nail department over Christmas, it's time to talk lips. If there's only one day of the year that you reach for a red lipstick, December 25th should be that day. I can think of nothing more festive (beauty wise) than a perfect red pout. If - like me - you normally shy away from anything that doesn't fall in to the nude colour spectrum, don't panic. I've got you covered...
16 December 2013
Now that Christmas is right round the corner, I'd like to think that everyone's gift buying is out of the way. However, if you're looking for some last minute inspiration Santa, here are the presents that would top my list.
15 December 2013
Come Christmas day, I'm placing a ban on nude nail polish and rocking a more festive shade (I'm keeping it strictly red, gold and green). These are colours which I rarely get round to wearing, so I've layered a few of them up and hung them in my tree. As you do...

Christmas is a pretty big deal in the Owen family household. Every year my Mum excels herself (this year we're talking two giant Christmas trees and garlands in every room), and since a young age we've all liked to decorate our own rooms. Last night I completed my annual decorating session, and decided to share a few simple tips to help you feel more festive at home.

A visit to Paris wouldn't be complete without a stop off at Sephora, plus a wander around a pharmacie or two. For a little beauty relief before I share round two of my holiday snaps (it's going to happen), I thought I'd share the purchases I made whilst marching my bestie round the shops - I even managed to convince her to buy a moisturiser or two.

Back in my Autumn evening routine post, I mentioned that I'd been using Christmas Cookie, one of Philosophy's infamous three-in-one bath products. Given that it now truly tis the season, I thought it was about time to share my thoughts on this festive tub treat. I managed to snap up this bottle of Christmas Cookie for £7 in the Boots New Year sale, but this year Philosophy have included it in the Cookie Exchange Gift Set.

Now that the temperature has dropped, I'm layering like there's no tomorrow. I don't normally share 'fashion' posts, but I'm a big fan of Winter woolies, so thought I'd share a few of my recent purchases with you all.

Stocking filler alert. If you're short on little 'top up gifts' for a beauty fan, or just after a pre-Christmas pick me up for yourself (as in my case) then get yourself down to Boots. I'm always drawn in by these till point miniatures, and couldn't resist purchasing the Benefit Tan About Town gift set. A miniature mascara, bronzer and cream-to-powder foundation for less than £10 - what's not to love?

At the beginning of this week, the event which kicks off my festive season took place: my work Christmas party. Because my team decided to go for dinner followed by drinks, I needed makeup which would last well past the soup course and in to post meal cocktails. Here are the products which I opted for.

Twas the night before Disney, when all through the house, not a Josie was stirring...Wait. That's a total lie. The knowledge that I'd be off to Disneyland the next day had me bouncing off the walls, so I put together a little routine to ensure I had a good nights sleep. By the time you read this I'll be chilling with Mickey Mouse, but my pre-Disney pampering went a little like this...

If there's one thing that I've decided I loathe about going away, it's packing. I always take too much with me, and I always forget something. To help make packing a little easier for me, I've put together a pouch filled with the do-not-forget-these essentials. This is the Parisian edit.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of a good nude lip. Don't get me wrong, I think berry lip tones are beautiful, but with my thin lips and colouring, nothing beats a nice natural lipstick. Pinky tones are a no go, I lean towards warmer shades, and i'm always on the quest to find the one. Until very recently, NARS was my go to brand for the perfect pout, but they might just have a little competition from Urban Decay's latest lip launch...
