In terms of colour, Icon is a true, Hollywood red. It's definitely got blue undertones, but is by no means a berry shade - Icon is very much a bright red lip. Applying two layers takes the colour down to a much darker wine red, which I love. Worn either way, it's a beautiful shade. What's great about this liquid lipstick is the longevity. It applies as a highly pigmented, wet gloss and sets to a matte finish which requires minimal touching up (unless of course you spend your entire day chowing down - we've all been there - I've yet to find a lip product which will hold up perfectly against food and drink).
The only irk for me is that I'm a lazy girl when it comes to makeup, and this product takes a little work. Your lips need to be prepped to wear this, otherwise it can feel a bit 'bobbly'. As long as you buff your lips first, use a nourishing balm and make sure to blot, there shouldn't be any problems. However, I wouldn't recommend this product for anyone with really dry lips. Liner is also an essential application step for me, as the Opaque Rouge lipsticks all have doe foot applicators, which don't give the neatest line.
I've tried most of the popular liquid lipsticks (YSL, MUFE, Rimmel etc) and I have to say that I'm not 100% sold. Whilst they do have excellent lasting power, I've yet to find one that sits perfectly on the lips. With that being said, Icon is one of the better of the bunch. It's a pretty shade which is well loved by a lot of the blogging community, and I'll definitely be making use of it over the festive season.
Such a great colour, would look great on a night out. But I so agree about the liner, I can see how it would need it xxx

I adore this shade! It definitely is the perfect Christmas colour. I dont know if I'd be able to cope with a lipstick that long lasting without wanting to tear my lips off haha x

What a beautiful color - although maybe I am just cheap, because for that price (as with other high end products) I feel like they should be performing above and beyond! But still, I might have to check it out just for the color, because it would be perfect for the holidays!

Oh my god this is gorgeous. The opaque rouges come in such great shades, I don't think I could just choose one! xxx

This is a gorgeous deep shade! I have really dry lips, so I'd have to use a lip scrub first & put on a lipbalm before applying this - but what a stunning shade!

Wow that shade is just beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried many of these kinds of liquid lipsticks but this one seems to be the top of the pile! The shade is so glamorous :) I do agree that they sound like they would be a lot more work. I have issues with a lip product withstanding food and drink, though a stain kind of product like the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are probably the best I've encountered.
ReplyDeleteI saw this at Sephora the other day. It was a tiny, but very adorable bottle. But I think I have too many reds at this moment. The swatch, however, it telling me otherwise.
