I Theodora You

OPI I Theodora You - £11.50

I went to see Oz the Great and Powerful a couple of weeks ago and fell head over heels with the film. Anything with Mila Kunis, James Franco and Disney is a winner for me. I'm a sucker for merchandise, so had my eye on the Urban Decay palettes, but knew I wouldn't get that much use out of them - so when OPI launched their Oz range, I snapped these two shades up (I've got my eye on When Monkeys Fly next).

I Theodora You is a very pretty pale pink, but the reality is it's a pain in the arse to apply. In the swatch above I've used three coats, but on my nails it was more like four for this sort of colour pay off. I think I definitely need to invest in a good base and fast drying topcoat to pair with this, because the colour really is lovely.

Lights of Emerald City is a beautiful, but strange glitter top coat. It combines larger matte white squares with smaller holographic pieces, which look awesome paired with a nude nail, as they take on a bronzey golden tone. I have to say though, again I find this difficult to work with. I feel like you get a lot of the clear polish, and barely any of the glitter.

I'm usually a fan of OPI polishes, but I've really struggled with these. They're so pretty that I want them to work, but I'm too lazy to put that much effort in to making my nails look nice. Could you be tempted by any of the shades from the new Oz collection?

  1. I always struggle to find a good glitter nail varnish for the exact reason you expressed above! So annoying, especially when it'd be even more beautiful if there was more glitter.

  2. How annoying that you have to apply loads of the pink to get the colour in the bottle, it's such a nice colour though!

  3. I love that colour. I'm currently wearing Revlon's Pink Chiffon which is a pale pink too, and it took me three coats for full opacity, but it's beautiful!

  4. That's such a pretty colour, such a shame it's such a challenge to apply and get good pay off. :(

  17. It looks nice but I know what you mean about too much clear polish and not enough glitter, I don't have this polish but I have a similar one. If you do want to invest in a good top coat I cannot recommend OPI's Rapi Dry Top Coat enough! Its wonderful stuff!
