Bossy Boots

9 April 2013

This nail polish has been on my wish list for as long as I can remember. There's something about green nails that I just love, and try as I might, I've been unable to track down a cheaper dupe. Last week I took the plunge and ordered it, and it hasn't left my nails since.

Bossy Boots is described as a light pistachio shade, and that's a pretty perfect description. Now I love pistachios, so I'm a happy lady. I'd say it's more of an Autumn shade, but I'm enjoying wearing it and feel that it works well for Spring also. It's a very simple, understated polish that has the same flattering effect as a nice nude. Even my mum's complimented me on the colour, and she rarely agrees with my choices! In terms of wear time, it's fairly standard. My current coating has had about four days wear with minimal chipping, but keep in mind that I don't wear a base or top coat.

This is my first Butter London polish, but I have to say I'm really impressed - I've got my eye on their Spring collection next!

Getting Tipsy

8 April 2013

This blush doesn't really need any introductions. Tarte products are lusted after by beauty lovers from across the globe, and especially here in the UK, where they're almost impossible to come by (eBay is probably your best option). The lovely Jess sent me Tipsy as part of our beauty swap earlier this year, and I'm pretty sure I heard angels singing as I opened the packaging - alright, that's not strictly true.

First things first, this blush is bright. Tipsy is an incredibly pigmented, coral coloured, powder blush. Applied with a very light handle this will give a gentle flush of colour, which has a real brightening effect. It's a completely flat matte shade, with no hint of a sparkle.

This blush claims to last for twelve hours, and whilst it is pretty long lasting due to being so matte, it's difficult for me to really test its durability as I don't wear my makeup for that long. What I will say, however, is that it was a bit of an effort to shift a swatch I took, and it definitely stays intact throughout the working day.

Tipsy is a shade which I'll definitely get a lot more wear out of in the summer. It's not necessarily a colour I'd choose again, but I'm sold on the formula. I have my eye on Dollface and Exposed for my Vegas wishlist!
