Spring is on its way (or so I keep telling myself), so I've dragged myself away from berry shades, and moved towards a more fresh, natural look. Surprisingly, I've also switched from 100% high end to mostly drugstore. Here's a run down of the go to products in my makeup bag recently:

For my base, I've been reaching for the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. I'm still not too sure how I feel about this - it's a fair bit heavier than I expected, and the shade which I have (120 vanilla) is a little too light for me. However, it does give a flawless, satin finish and packs a punch in the SPF department (20). Under the eyes and on any blemishes I've been using the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting concealer.
My cheeks have been loving MAC's Pink Cult (review to follow), a lovely neutral pink. This is my first matte MAC blush, but I'm definitely interested in trying more. Read my rave about Illamasqua's Gleam in Aurora here. There's not much more to add, I love it and I may have been eyeing up a back up... Colour wise, after experimenting with lots of heavy, bronze eyeshadows for the last couple of weeks, it's been refreshing to leave my lids bare. I've been reaching for Maybelline's heavily promoted Rocket Volume Express mascara, which is great for adding length and holds a curl nicely. Lips are an easy one - MAC's A Perfect Day (post here) - a nice nude.
After all of that, I like to use a slick of Revlon's Nearly Naked powder on my forehead, to make sure I'm not working that glow too much. Are you switching your makeup routine for Spring, or are you still enjoying Winter shades?
Loving revlon at the moment! It's snowing right now but I really hope spring arrives soon! x

I love switching to Spring makeup and always look forward to wearing more corals and peaches on my cheeks and lips. I've already moved over to tinted moisturisers, although that's largely due to being abroad in a hot country - I just want a minimal, natural look that doesn't feel heavy on the skin.

That's the second mini review I've read on Revlon's Nearly Naked Foundation today. I've got a drawer full of bases but I'm a sucker for a good review - will probably be heading to Boots tomorrow I fear! x Becky

I tend to wear sheer foundations/tinted moisturisers, so this leans towards medium coverage for me, and it's definitely buildable! It's been compared to my favourite foundation, ysl le teint touché éclat, but I actually think its closer to NARS sheer glow personally x
DeleteYour blog is really lovely! Such great posts :D

I really want to try the Revlon nearly naked foundation. Great post x
ReplyDeleteI love that Maybelline concealer :) I really like RT brushes too. I only have the purple eye brushes that come in a set, but I've been eyeing the orange and pink ones as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying both winter and spring makeup, for now. I'm nearly bare-faced today, with the exception of pressed powder, mascara, blush, and loose eyeshadow as a highlight. It feels nice to look fresh-faced!
As I live in the southern hemisphere, it's summer (nearly autumn) for me and I am also reaching for nudes these days :) I am starting to crave reds and berries lipsticks but wearing neutral shades is just so comfortable and you never can go wrong with these colours!

I've just bought the Nearly Naked foundation too. I think the colour I got (Nude) is a bit too dark for me....and Ivory would have been better. But I haven't been able to find that shade anywhere?! Weird. I just apply it quite thinly and I really do like it!
