Sorbet Nails

22 February 2013

In case you hadn't noticed the ever so slight theme of Spring being on its way, I've rounded up my three favourite polishes for the season. The colours are all fresh and simple, and each remind me of a nice scoop of sorbet (hence the slightly strange post title). A lovely, refreshing change to the deep burgundy's and teals of Autumn/Winter. As I'm a bit of a nail polish snob usually, I challenged myself to pick polishes priced under the £5 mark.
Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Polish in Mint For Life (newly released)

I've never had much luck with lemon shades (Models Own Lemon Meringue, I'm looking at you), but this Max Factor offering is surprisingly effortless to apply and wear. The formula is creamy, and opaque in two to three coats. I also love the small size - this isn't a shade that I'll get super frequent wear out of, so it's nice not to have to shell out for a big bottle.

Barry M's Peach Melba is a big hit in the blogging world, which I hadn't actually tried until now. Barry M polishes in general remind me of my black nail phase (first year of university), but the colour and quality of Peach Melba could easily stand up against polishes selling for three times its price. It's pretty, inoffensive and lasts well without chips.

Out of all three polishes, Maybelline's Mint For Life is my favourite. I have a feeling that these are newly released, as I couldn't find a link on Boots/Superdrug. This is billed as a gel effect polish - which it definitely isn't - but it's the perfect pale mint colour, exactly what I wanted Essie's Mint Candy Apple (post here) to be. Oh, and the brush is massive. I'm talking one stroke and the whole nail is done. I've been wearing this on my nails all week, and it's only just due a top up. My shade of 2013 (so far)!

One last thing - I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your lovely comments on my (slightly miserable) last post. It definitely cheered me up :)
