Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?

2 February 2013

Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh was first brought to my attention by Carmen. I loved it, and true to my word (check the comment) hunted it down. It looks much warmer on her than it does on me, but luckily, I'm still really happy with it!

I've been having a little bit of a love affair with nude polishes recently - and when I say recently I mean over the last two years - and this OPI offering is no exception. While its not quite up there with my holy grail, Don't Pretzel My Buttons (review here), it's a great polish, and welcome in my ever growing collection.

OPI as a brand tend to garner mixed opinions. They're much more affordable in the USA, and in terms of colour selection, I don't really think they can be beaten. Their collections - particularly their autumn offerings - are always eagerly anticipated, but the quality to price ratio is questionable. I have to say, that whilst I have been disappointed by some OPI polishes in the past (Minnie Mouse collection, I'm looking at you), overall I find their formulas to be smooth, easy to apply, opaque in two costs, and reasonably chip resistant. Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh falls right in to that 'worth it' category.

My favourite thing about this shade (apart from the name, as I love Van Gogh - The Starry Night is my favourite painting ever) is just how easy it is to wear. A lovely, sandy nude with just a hint of grey, that is great to throw on for a presentable, pretty day to day look.

  1. this is such a lovely colour, a staple! xxx

  2. This is a really lovely colour. I'm not that into nudes but I've been on the hunt for a few new shades. I've always loved Models Own Utopia!
