Birthday Wishes

3 February 2013

Today is a pretty special day in the Owen household. Not only is my youngest brother, Dylan, turning fifteen (a scary thought - in my head he's still about eight), but my younger sister, Dominique (read her blog here), is turning the grand old age of sixteen. Yes, they're born the same day a year apart! I'm so proud of both of them, and even though I still call them 'the babies' I'm having so much fun watching them grow up.

To mark the occasion, I decided to get my bake on. Dylan was having a poker night with some friends (they play without money) last night following an archery lesson, so I drafted in my long suffering bestie Emily to 'help' (aka teach) me with these poker chip biscuits. It was touch and go with the icing, but I'm pleased with how they came out. Dommie had been for a girly night at the Alton Towers hotel with her friends on Friday night, so I decided to have these miniature Victoria sponge cupcakes ready for their return. Again, big props to Emily! I think they're such a cute treat, and make me feel ready for spring. Dommie is the baking queen in our house, but she seemed suitably impressed :)

I hope that you're all having a lovely lazy Sunday, and to my baby brother and sister, have a very happy birthday!
