Skin Care: French Pharmacie Haul

22 September 2012

I have been a pretty terrible blogger this month...only one post (oops!), but I'm back now. I do have my excuses though, work has been busy busy busy, and I nipped off down to the south of France for a few days of much needed sun, sand and sleeping. Given that I'm going through a little skin care obsession at the moment, I couldn't wait to hit up a French pharmacy. I was surprised by how many there was scattered around Biarritz, and I may have dragged my family around four or five...

I haven't provided prices and links just because I couldn't be bothered trawling through the net, but I'll be posting a few individual reviews in the near future so I'll have a search for them then. Although most of these products are available online over here, it was amazing to be able to walk in to a shop in a small town and find them all stocked there, as a lot of the items are ridiculously difficult to get over here. Caudalie was actually the hardest brand to track down (there was only one pharmacy that I came across that stocked it), but I've come home to find a Boots in the next city to me that stocks it now, result!

I only originally meant to pick up the Caudalie bits (I wanted a giant elixir as I have a baby one at home already, but couldn't find it anywhere :(), the Phyto shampoo, and the nuxe lip balm, as I'd read such promising reviews on them. I was blown away by the range of products I saw though, I wish I'd researched more before I went! They are definitely big fans of Avene over in France, and after seeing so many of their products I'm probably going to pick up one of their cleansers in Boots. Everything else was bought on a bit of a whim, although so far I'm not disapponted by anything I've tried. I'm surprised by how much I've enjoyed using the embryolisse as I was pretty skeptical of it, but I've used it so far as a primer, and I can see it being a great winter moisturiser - how cold is it already?! This was a bargain too, only 13 euros (around £11) for 75ml, whilst it's £17.50 plus delivery to purchase on guru makeup emporium in the UK.

This was a bit of a pointless post really, but I love being nosey and I love skin care so I figured a few of you may appreciate it too...So, what have I missed whilst I've been away?! And what are your top skin care picks?
